Tofino Wildlife Watching
Bears, Eagles, Wolves, Sea Lions & more!
Wildlife Watching Boat Tours with Browning Pass Charters
Browning Charters offers wildlife boat tours year round. Different animals will be living along the forest at the waters edge or in the water at different times throughout the year.
Bears tend to be foraging along the shoreline from May to October. At low tide they come down to the beach to look for crabs under the rocks and fish. They spend more time along the shore and therefore are visible for long periods of time. Please check our Bear Watching page for more information.
Bald eagles live in Tofino and Clayoquot Sound year round. Eagles may have several nests and use each nest for a different part of the year.
Wolves have become more abundant in Clayoquot Sound and are astounding animals to witness in the wild. But they can be difficult to see as they are still rare and keep moving in their quest for food. The good news is that they live along the shoreline all year long.
Big, bold, beautiful sea lions make their way into the inlets of Clayoquot Sound in the late winter and early spring. During the summer months sea lions move offshore. Browning Pass Charters takes you to the sea lions as they bask in the sunshine on rocky outcrops moving in and out of the water to fish and play.
Orcas, Grey and Humpback Whales migrate through the waters of Tofino and Clayoquot Sound from and here I need some info from Mike. Custom whale watching trips are available from Browning Pass Charters. Please contact us to discuss how you may enjoy these magnificent animals on a specialized whale watching trip or combined with another of our Tofino boat cruises.
